Christmas 2008

We had such a fun Christmas! Christmas morning with Aiden was a blast! He really understood the whole concept of Santa and I think this will be the first Christmas he actually remembers. Ron's parents as well as his brother and his wife and their twins (Ray, Tracie, Jordan and Adena) were here for 4 days. The twins are 3 weeks older than Ashton...it was a baby party...and so much fun! My family came over on Christmas as well. It was a day of love and laughs, one we will all remember with fond memories.

When Aiden was born, I started the tradition of baking a "Happy Birthday, Jesus" cake each year. This was the first year he was able to help me.


He was a little overwhelmed when he first came downstairs Christmas morning.

Aiden asked Santa for 2 things for Christmas. A forklift and a monster truck. Here he is opening the forklift.

Tracie brought a Santa outfit with her and my brother put it on Christmas night. Aiden had no idea that it was Kevin. I couldn't believe it! He was in such awe and couldn't believe that Santa was at his house!

Merry Christmas, Mario!

At 7:15 this morning Aiden and I ran outside in our pajamas to give our garbage man and friend, Mario, his Christmas present. He gave Aiden the perfect gift, a ride in his truck! This is Aiden's 2nd time riding with Mario in his truck. Aiden got to ride with him as he lifted and dumped the trash of 2 of our neighbors into his truck. When Mario pulled up across the street Aiden said "Mario has a different truck today." It looked like the same green truck he always drives. As we were talking to Mario he told us that he had a different truck today. I couldn't believe that Aiden could tell that it was a different truck. I'm telling you, this kid knows his garbage!


He's got his hand on the wheel, like a real pro! In the other picture, he's using the mirror to watch the trash can dump into the hopper.

Aiden's Christmas Program

Aiden's preschool put on an adorable program yesterday for the parents. The 4 year olds did a nativity skit, which was hysterically adorable, and Aiden's class sang 2 songs. He participated in 1 of them and then he came and sat with me. He wasn't really into it for some reason. They sang "Joy to the World" and "Christ is Born". They had a birthday party for Jesus on Tuesday -- so cute! I love that he's being taught the "reason for the season" at school. We talk about it a lot at home and it's great to have it reinforced at school as well.

6 months old

Ashton is a 1/2 a year old! I just know these next 6 months are going to fly by even faster than the first 6 and before I know it I'll be planning his first birthday party.

Here are his stats from his 6 month appointment. The doctor says he's healthy and growing just as he should. He is 16 pounds 7 ounces (40th%) and 28 inches long (95th%). My long and lean string bean! He's got one more inch to grow before he's out of the infant car seat.

What he's been up to:
-He loves chewing on anything he can get into his mouth, he's trying to master the pincer grasp and his favorite toy is a tie between his feet and his exersaucer.
- He's sitting up unassisted and he loves the new perspective.
-We just started feeding him baby oatmeal on his 6 month birthday. He's not quite sure what to think of it quite yet. I also started the sippy cup. He's sucked on it a few times, but he likes to use it as a teether most of the time. We'll start fruits and veggies over the weekend.
-He got his first tooth 2 weeks ago! Tooth #2 is just under the gums, I expect it to pop up any day. Both are on the bottom.
-The older he gets, the more Aiden enjoys interacting with him. Aiden loves making Ashton laugh and smile. The belly laughs that come out of Ashton when Aiden is playing with him make me warm and fuzzy inside, it's adorable!

We took the boys to see Santa this afternoon, it was so much fun! Aiden is REALLY loving Santa and all things Christmas. Ashton thought he was cool, especially his beard. Santa reminded Ashton that his beard is real, so be gentle! This Santa is amazingly wonderful with the kids. He takes his time and talks to them a lot, we love him!


Hmmm...now that I'm sitting on his lap, I forgot what I want! Oh ya, a forklift and a monster truck!

Elf Watch 08

I started a new tradition this year. I got this cute little elf (he's called Elf on a Shelf) at a Hallmark store. He comes with an adorable book explaining his purpose. The book explains how Santa sent him to watch over Aiden and report back to Santa if he is being naughty or nice. Aiden has named him Howie. Not sure where he got that name from but when I asked him what we should name the elf, he blurted it out with certainty...so Howie it is! Howie will be in a a different place in the house every day and Aiden gets to find him when he wakes up. I seriously think Christmas is more fun for parents than kids! This is where Mr. Elf made his debut.

Short for munchkin :) He got his first tooth on Sunday! I couldn't believe it! He's been drooling a lot but has been happy overrall so it really caught me by surprise. The 2nd one will be here soon, I can feel it through the gums. Both are on the bottom. He'll be 6 months old in 1 week. Uncle Ray and Aunt Tracie sent him this cool beanie.

I think this is such a great idea, but I cannot take credit for it. I saw it on Lyndsay's blog...one I read every day. She's an AMAZING (and I don't use that word lightly) photographer, wife and mother of 3. Check her out here!

Anyway, she made her own gift tags this year and I decided it would be fun to do the same. Here's what mine look like. I designed them in Photoshop Elements using some digital scrapbook kits and they measure to be 4x2.5". Using Word, I set up one page to include 6 tags. I will print them on 8 1/2 x 11" 100# cardstock. Then I will cut them out, hole punch each one and attach to gifts. Super cute and super easy! Now go ahead and use this great idea for your gifts (holler if you want help) :)
