Thankful Thursday

I've wanted to be a mommy for as long as I can remember. Specifically, a mommy who is home with her kids...just like my mom was.I remember feeling so secure as a child because my mom was there when I needed her. I remember dreaming about having a "job" like my mom did. Playing with my kids, tending to their wants and needs all day, taking care of the household and my husband and having a lot of fun! Statistically, girls who are raised by a SAHM are more likely to be one themselves...so there you have it! I'm so thankful we have made the sacrifices so that I can be a full time mommy to Aiden and Ashton!

I will always have my college education should I decide to put it to practical use once the kids are grown, and I have the rest of my life to work. It’s clearly obvious to Ron and I that the most important way to spend my time is to put all my energy into raising our children which means being there for them 24/7. Our children will not always be young and need me like they do now. Being a SAHM is much more challenging and stimulating than any job I could be working outside of the home and more rewarding beyond measure. Some days end in exhaustion and frustration but those days also include moments with the boys when they give me a look I’ll never forget, a kiss or hug when I don’t expect it and a hand to hold for no reason at all.

I’m the family CEO, CFO, boo boo kisser, million-questions-a-day “answerer”, playmate, teacher, moral guide, Miss Manners…and much more. Being a mother has made me selfish. I want to be that special person in my son’s lives who they know they can depend on and will always be there for them at any moment.. and I am! There is no job I could be doing that would leave a bigger mark on this planet then putting all of my energy and focus into raising happy, healthy little boys who will grow into wonderful husbands and fathers. We’ve only got one chance to be the best parents we can. I’ve been waiting for this time of my life for a long time…and I’m finally here!

Thankful Thursday

Today is my first Thankful Thursday post. I saw this idea on another blog and copied it because I think it is always good to sit down and remember what you are thankful for in life. I am thankful for many things, big and small, but I'll start with something big.

I am so thankful for my wonderful husband. He works hard to provide for our family and give us a lifestyle that allows me to be home with our children. Early in our relationship, I told Ron how important it is for me to be home with our kids...if we were to have them together some day. I wanted to raise them myself 24/7. I wanted to be the one to kiss their boo boos and see all their changes and milestones. I didn't want to miss a thing! Thankfully, he agreed and we discovered early on that our family values were in sync. We agreed that no one can love and nurture our children like he or I would so we've structured our life to make this our reality. I realize that many moms wish they didn't have to work and want to be home with their kids so I'm especially thankful to be living this dream. Our children will only be small for a short time, which makes me especially thankful to be at home with them while they are young. Although, I think it's really important to be around as they get older too. Ron supports me as a mom, loves me as his wife and is the most incredible father a child could ask for. He is the partner I dreamed of and together we are committed to the priority of raising our children. His favorite time of day is the minute he pulls into the driveway and Aiden runs out to give him a big hug and sit on his lap as he pulls into the garage. It's a great life thanks to my ambitious, loving and supportive husband. I hit the husband lottery!
