After a long blogging absence, I'm back with lots of pictures from Halloween!

My new toy

I finally got a new lens for my camera. I can't believe I haven't purchased this lens before now. It's a 50MM portrait lens, which is mostly what I take with my DSLR, so I'm hoping to get some good shots. I have a lot to learn and need lots of practice, but here are a few I've taken so far. I'm looking forward to taking a photography class in the Fall.

Independence Day Weekend Fun!

We had a great weekend! We started the 4th of July fun with the Cann and Buckley families in Moorpark on Friday night. You can see the fireworks from Amy & Michael's driveway! They invited us over for a block party BBQ, it was a lot of fun and it's always great to spend time with these wonderful friends.

We spent several hours at the Ventura Aquatic Center on Saturday morning. This is such a cool place. Aiden was very upset that he was 2 inches too short to ride the water slides, but we had fun nevertheless. Ashton LOVED the pool! It was his first time in a swimming pool and we will be doing that some more this summer. He was all smiles the whole time. I left the park with my annual sun burn. I always burn my back...every summer. You'd think I would have learned by now!




After that we came home so the kids could nap and then we met my parents at the park for the Conejo Pops Orchestra's annual patriotic summer concert. This is a tradition and it's so much fun. This year, Aiden really enjoyed it. It's so much fun to be surrounded by so many other people who love our country as much as we do. It's such a great feeling to honor the service men who are there too. Leaves you with that warm, fuzzy feeling for sure! I look forward to this event every year.

After that we headed over to a local church to set up our camp and watch the fireworks. We've been going to this location for the past few years and it's such a great spot. Aiden had a great time on the waterslide! I think we may do something like this for his 5th birthday. I know, you probably think I'm crazy since he JUST turned 4, but he's loving anything related to water, so I'm sure it would be a big hit with him and all of his friends.

Father's Day

We had a fun Father's Day! We spent a few hours at the Ventura Harbor having lunch, playing in the arcade and checking out the boats. Aiden loved it. We had dinner with my family that night. I'm so thankful for the wonderful man who is my children's father. He is as lucky to have them as they are to have him.

It was so nice of this woman to walk up and offer to take a family picture when she saw me shooting the boys...it's just too bad she had no idea how to work my camera even after I told her how to focus it. Such a bummer. We have so few family pictures and with this scenery, this one had potential. Humfph.

Happy First Birthday, Jordan & Adena!

We took our first road trip with the boys to Sacramento over Memorial Day weekend so we could celebrate Jordan and Adena's first birthday with the family. The road trip went well, but we won't be doing it again any time soon. It's just way too many hours in the car. The party was a ton of fun and it was great to visit with everyone. We had a little birthday celebration for Aiden too while we were there.
