5 years

Today is our 5 year wedding anniversary! It’s hard to believe it’s already been 5 years since I married my best friend. We’ve done so much since we got married. Since we’ve been together we’ve traveled to New York, Georgia, Hawaii, Virginia, Maryland, Chicago, Cabo San Lucas and Negril, Jamaica (honeymoon). In the 5 years we’ve been married...we bought our first house in May 03 and sold it in March 07 when we bought our 2^nd house…the one we’ll be in for a while. Ron left Sprint and started his own business. We became parents to Aiden, I became a stay at home mom and started my own small business. We’re ending our 5 year mark with the birth of our 2^nd son, Ashton. It’s been a fun, exciting, fulfilling and love filled 5 years and we have 2 beautiful boys to show for it. I’m excited to see what happy memories are ahead of us.I love you, hun!

We haven't celebrated yet because we didn't have a babysitter this weekend. Mom is driving across country with Aunt Val as she moves from Las Vegas back to Michigan and Dad is in Cabo. So instead we had some neighbors over for dinner to break in our new BBQ - a gift from my parents. We are looking forward to a nice, kid free dinner next weekend! As far as gifts go, since neither of us need anything and both our birthdays are right around the corner, we decided to do a few things to the house as our "present" to each other.

Week in review

Here are some pictures from the past week.

We went to a fun water park in Ventura on Sunday. It was our first time there but we will definitely be going again. Aiden loved it! Ashton and I had to sit in the shade on the sidelines until next year.

In the morning, a few hours after he wakes up, Aiden crawls back into bed to hang out with his "friends" as he calls them.

Our stringbean

Ashton had his 2 month appointment today. I quickly remembered how difficult shots are for mommy too :( He's growing just like Aiden did as a baby. He's doing great, healthy as ever.
He's now 11 pounds 14 ounces (50th%) and 24 3/4 inches long (95th%).
And since a post isn't complete without a picture, here's our sweet boy. He even had a little smile for me after subjecting him to his first shots.

Ribbit

One of the things we love about where we live is that there is a creek in our backyard. It's just about 100 feet from our fence. As a result, we get critters. Sunday Aiden found and played with a baby frog. The disadvantage to living near the creek is finding rodents. Shortly after finding the frog, Reagle found a mouse by the lawn mower. Yuck!

2 months old

Ashton is 2 months old today! During the past 8 weeks we've found our groove as a family of 4 and it has definitely gotten easier managing 2 kids. Not easy, just easier :) When we were pregnant, our friends the Luces, told us that 2 kids is more than twice the work...and boy were they right!

Ashton @ 2 months:
-He is smiling quite a bit and he's starting to coo and "talk back" when we talk to him. I love this!

-He's put himself into a pretty nice routine. He's very predictable. Exactly one hour after he wakes, he's ready to sleep again. It sure makes the day easier when I know what to expect so I can anticipate his needs and get through the day. As long as I keep him on track, he cries very little. When he does cry its usually because I missed the 1 hour mark and he is over tired.

-He generally only wakes once at night. He goes to bed at 9-9:30 and sleeps until 2:30AM. He's only up for about 15 minutes so I get back to bed pretty quickly. He eats every 3 hours during the day.

We go to the doctor on Tuesday for his 2 month physical and first round of shots. I'm anxious to see how much he's grown. I'm guessing he's around 12 pounds. I'll post an update after the appointment.

The Fair

We went to the Ventura County Fair on Sunday with my parents and Ethan. We decided to take the train and that was a lot of fun, especially for the boys. Aiden loves rides more and more each time he goes on them. I'd say his favorite part of the day was the petting zoo, Ron couldn't get him out of there. It's so difficult to get good pictures of moving rides with just my P&S...not my best work, that's for sure. :(




Ashton slept for most of the day, but I did get a picture of him in his cute hat.

Rescue Ranger

We went with some friends from the Mom's Club to get a tour of a rescue helicopter. Fun and informative for the kids and the moms!.

Family

While we were in Sacramento this past weekend, Ray & Tracie's friend Alisa came over and took pictures of all of us. She took about 500 total but she sent a few yesterday as a sneak peak. Here are a few.

Ashton's Birth Annuncement

Now that all our family and friends have received the announcement, I can post it here. I designed a tri-fold announcement for Ashton's birth. The design was a ton of work and took hours to perfect, but I'm thrilled with the outcome. I found a great vendor online to print my creation. Here is the finished product, they are beautiful...if I don't say so myself! :)

Double Take

Here is Aiden and Ashton wearing the same adorable outfit (I even remember who gave it to us, Brad & Cathy Marsh...it's always been one of my favorites). Anyway, Aiden is about 4 weeks old in this picture and Ashton is 7 weeks old. The biggest visible difference is the nose, but other than that, they sure do look a lot a like!

Fountain Fun

Today we met our friends Tammy & Austin at the fountain. The boys had a lot of fun!

Cousins

This past weekend we flew to Sacramento to finally meet the Antar twins, Adena and Jordan. They were born 3 weeks before Ashton. It was so fun to have all the kids together!
